A difficult concept, easily explained
Non-contributory basis
If your income is garnished, a portion of your salary or benefits will be transferred to us. This will then pay off your debt. The portion of your salary or benefits that you receive yourself and on which we are not allowed to seize is called the attachment-free foot. You can see how this works in the video below.
Calculation of attachment-free foot
We calculate your garnishment-free foot based on data from the Basic Registration of Persons (BRP) and the UWV’s Policy Administration which shows your income. In addition, we take into account your living situation. Living situation is about how you live, whether you have a partner and what your family situation is. We also consider children registered at your address. See all the information on how to calculate and calculate your garnishment-free foot on this page.
